If you would like to contact the intake department, you may do so in writing to Midwest Innocence Project 300 E 39th St Kansas City, MO 64111 or via email at intake@themip.org.

Make Sure the Applicant Meets Our Requirements
If the requirements are met, please have the incarcerated person complete our application. You may also email intake@themip.org to request that we send the application directly to the incarcerated person. Please be sure to include their inmate/DOC number and current location.
The incarcerated person must then send the written application to this address

*Application status is confidential and will not be disclosed to anyone but the applicant.

MIP Only Accepts Cases in which the Applicant:
- is claiming actual innocence, in other words, that they did not participate in the crime.
- Was convicted in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, or Arkansas.
- is currently incarcerated and has more than 10 years left to serve on his/her sentence.
- has exhausted their appeals and is not currently represented by an attorney.
