Kate Sallee (she/her/hers), Social Work Intern
Kate Sallee is earning her bachelor’s degree in social work and a triple minor in sociology, social justice, and leadership from the University of Kansas. She plans to attend law school post-grad to get her JD and practice social justice law, specifically wrongful incarceration. She is currently being trained through AmeriCorps to work with domestic violence survivors. As an intern at the Midwest Innocence Project, she will assist the Social Work team in case management, crisis intervention, and outreach services. She values the importance of human relationships, the dignity and worth of the person, and social justice.
Before working with MIP, she worked as a college ambassador where she learned communication skills and leadership. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, serving as the Vice President for both Operations and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, which taught her time-management and conflict resolution. She also worked at Fiedler Law Firm as a legal intern, focusing on assisting attorneys and investigators.
Kate is passionate about working in the helping field and building relationships wherever she goes. Outside of MIP, she enjoys watching the sunset, giving campus tours, and trying out new coffee shops.
