2025 Law Student Internships
The Midwest Innocence Project (MIP), a non-profit legal services organization based in Kansas City, MO, offers five full-time law student summer internships. Due to budget restrictions, MIP is unable to offer a stipend for interns this year, but we encourage applicants to apply for independent funding through their law school or other scholarship programs.
Legal interns will be assigned cases to manage and move forward under supervision of MIP’s legal staff. While interns will assist in all aspects of litigation, including fact development, legal research, drafting motions for post-conviction relief, case management, and client interaction, a large part of any legal internship will involve investigation and work on individual cases.
Ideal applicants will be highly motivated, energetic self-starters, who have the ability to work independently, along with a demonstrated commitment to social justice. Applications will be accepted from 1Ls and 2Ls. Applications for the summer of 2025 will be accepted by email on a rolling basis beginning January 10, 2025 through March 31, 2025. Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible.
To apply, please submit a cover letter, resume, transcript, and writing sample to Rachel Wester, Legal Director, at internships@themip.org.
