On Wednesday, March 15, 2017, the Midwest Innocence Project Student Organization (MIPSO) hosted Mind of the Innocent, an art variety show featuring the works of currently incarcerated MIP clients, at The Kick Theater.

The event was a two-part on-stage performance. Act 1 included short poems and stories written by our clients, including Michael Politte, Rodney Lincoln, Tim Chaney, Charles Erickson, and Lamar Johnson. In Act 2, a spoken word play written by Ricky Kidd was performed by some of KC finest actors, including Frank Oakley III, Branden Mims, De’Markcus Howell, Bess Osburn Hayles, and RC Shivers. Food and drinks were available for purchase from Green Room and Westport Coffeehouse, along with booklets of the clients’ written works, t-shirts, and bracelets.
